Georg Hallensleben(ゲオルク・ハレンスレーベン)はドイツで生まれ、イタリアで20年間過ごした後、パリに30年近く住んでいる。
物心ついたときから絵を描くことが好きで、文字通り何百冊ものスケッチブックに絵を描いてきた。19歳のとき、スイスのトミ・ウンゲラーとセンペのギャラリーで初個展を開き、これが画家・イラストレーターとしての始まりとなった。妻とともに制作した「リサとガスパール」シリーズ(※“リサとガスパール” 日本での取扱い：Sony Creative Products)や「うっかりペネロペ」シリーズは世界的な成功を収め、絵本の挿絵画家としても広く知られるようになった。温かく魅力的な絵画的タッチ、色を重ねて豊かな奥行きと微妙なニュアンスを生み出すテクニックで知られ、彼の作品は実に魅惑的である。
Georg Hallensleben was born in Germany, spent 20 years in Italy and is living since almost 30 years now in Paris.
Since he can remember he loves drawing and painting and has filled over the years literally hundreds of sketchbooks.
At 19 he had his first solo show in the Swiss gallery of Tomi Ungerer and Sempé, the beginning of a long series of exhibitions as a painter and illustrator. Together with his wife he created the globally successful « Gaspard and Lisa »(‘Gaspard and Lisa’ handled in Japan by Sony Creative Products) and the « Ukkari Penelope » series, earning him widespread recognition as a picture book illustrator. Known for his warm and inviting painterly touch, his technique of layering colors to create rich depth and subtle nuances, his work is truly captivating.
